The Holy Spirit is a holy fire; He is a creative, life-giving force and a rushing mighty wind; He is the Comforter and the Spirit of the Living God.
The fire of the Holy Spirit represents God’s power. The cross represents the death, and the fire represents the victory.
Matthew 3:11 “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear : he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire”
When John baptized Jesus in the Jordan the Holy Spirit descended on Him in the form of a dove. Because of our sinful nature the Holy Spirit comes to us as blazing fire to burn away all our impurities so that we may be made Holy.
The fire of God brings light to the darkness in our lives. Without the light of God we would stumble around without direction in our lives.
Every altar needs a sacrifice. Every altar needs a fire. Before you can have a sacrifice, something needs to die: we have to die to self so that the resurrection fire can burn out the dross in our lives.
An altar without fire is a temple without God. We must allow the fire to continue its work in us. We must preach with fire, pray with fire, and worship with fire so that we can be ablaze with the Glory of God.
We cannot allow the fire to go out!
After Christ ascended to heaven there was a waiting period of 50 days before the fire came to the Upper Room. Then like a mighty rushing wind the Holy Spirit came and poured out the fire on the people. Peter’s ministry was transformed as the power of the Holy Spirit fire engulfed him and soon after, 3000 were saved.
We too need to be like that and go back to the place of our resurrection, the altar of God’s fire!
